UWA Athletics
LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Jenae Jones joined the University of West Alabama’s athletic staff in June of 2021 as the director of athletic communications, replacing Kent Partridge who assumed the duties of the director of athletics for UWA. Jones has more than 10 years of experience working in athletic communication.
“We are so excited to have Jenae join our Tiger athletic staff. She brings lots of experience and a terrific skill set to the position,” Partridge said.
Her duties include orchestrating and managing UWA Athletics strategic communication, oversight and execution of staff and student-athlete media and social media training, oversight of coaches’ radio shows, radio announcers, and public address announcers, management of all media relations activities, providing “quality control” as it relates to all communications materials and digital media, and providing leadership on all intradepartmental communication. Jones will also serve as a member of the Tiger Athletics senior staff.
“I am looking forward to having her as a part of senior management in Tiger athletics and am looking forward to fresh ideas that she will have on how to better promote our department, our university and our student-athletes,” Partridge said.
Prior to joining West Alabama athletics, Jones served as the director of athletic communications for the Mississippi University for Women from 2017-2021. While at the W, her duties included overseeing public relations strategy, supervised staff and student workers in the athletic communication department, served as the media contact for all Owl sports, and overseeing the Owl’s athletics social media campaigns.
Jones also has experience in working with a NCAA Division l program. She served as the assistant manager for athletic media relations at Jackson State University from 2014-2017. Before being hired as the assistant, Jones worked as a graduate assistant for one year and served as a student worker for several years prior.
While at Jackson State, her duties included running the JSU Tigers social media pages, planning events such as JSU Basketball Madness, sat on the JSU Hall of Fame Committee, and served as the media contact for the volleyball, women’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s bowling, men and women’s track and field/cross country, softball, and baseball.
The Terry, Mississippi native, graduated from Tougaloo College with a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication with an emphasis in journalism. She furthered her education at Jackson State University, receiving her master of sports science degree in sports management.
